Home Energy Audits

Are you paying too much money for utilities?  Are you looking for ways to save money but not sure what type of home improvements make the most sense?  Maybe you need to have a Home Energy Audit.

According to Energy Star a Home Energy Audit (also know as a Building Performance Audit) includes all of the inspections provided in the Home Energy Survey and also includes diagnostic testing using specialized equipment such as a blower door, duct leakage tester, combustion analyzer and infrared camera to determine:
  • The amount and location of air leaks in the building envelope
  • The amount of leakage from HVAC distribution ducts
  • The effectiveness of insulation inside walls and ceilings
  • Any existing or potential combustion safety issues

The BPI Building Analyst will conduct a whole-house evaluation and use a state approved computer software analysis program to identify and prioritize proposed energy upgrades. The homeowner will receive a detailed report listing suitable energy upgrades and specifications to help guide the homeowner to approved Energy Upgrade California Contractors who can perform the work.

Comprehensive HERS Rating

Once the energy upgrades have been installed the BPI Building Analyst will do a "test-out" to make sure that all energy improvements have been installed properly.

A Home Energy Audit is a requirement for many local and federal funded mortgages.
